Gainesville, Florida is recognized as one of the nation's most livable, ecologically beautiful and technologically advanced cities (named Florida Tree City of the Year in 1997). As the county seat of Alachua County, Gainesville FL serves as the commercial hub for the North Central Florida area that is especially noted for the excellence of its medical and educational institutions.
