Agency and YOU

"Agency" is the type of relationship you have with the sales associate who is handling your real estate transaction.  It is really important to understand the type of representation they are giving you because different types of relationships require different duties from the agent involved.  It is important to know when your information will be held in confidence and when it can be used in bargaining.

You should not assume that any real estate broker or sales associate represents you unless you have signed an agreement with them that says so.  You should not disclose any information you want to keep confidential until you have made a decision on the type of relationship you want to have with the real estate agent.
